The Gospel 106 and Park CANCELLED
May 10, 2009

According to Black Voices.com, BET doesn't want to let cat officially out of the bag, but it has officially canceled the '106 & Park' spin-off '106 & Park: Generation Gospel.'

Hosted by Angel Taylor from the Stellar Award-winning gospel group Tri-ni-tee 5:7 and Jorel Quinn from the hip hop gospel group 21:03, Generation Gospel featured much of the same elements that has made the original show a mainstay in hip hop culture. From an energetic, live studio audience, the hottest music videos in Christendom, celebrity guests, and interactive choir battles, this short-lived gospel-themed music video and interview series aired every Sunday at noon.

Many said the show, which began airing in January of this year, never really stood a chance at building an audience of Christians because of its inconvenient time slot. However, show producers seemed to be tapping a market of non-churchgoers - of which the 18-30 audience are many.

Buzz that the show was going to be nixed because of poor ratings began online a few weeks ago.

Guests who were scheduled to tape future episodes of the show have been told that their appearances have been canceled.

Some viewers who watch the show mostly via TiVo and DVR who have started online petitions asking the network to give the show a second chance may or may not see it resurrected.
