Homeless Couple Wins Super Bowl Trip
February 2, 2011By Tasan Thompson

A homeless couple, who are residents of St. John's homeless shelter in Green Bay, Wisconsin, won tickets to Super Bowl XLV, Green Bay Packers versus Pittsburgh Steelers.

Ouida Wright and her boyfriend, Aaron Hermes, were attending the city's Winterfest celebration on Saturday night. All the while, people were too frequently approaching them and restating the same phrase, "Have you been to Dallas lately?"

They eventually discovered that there was a mystery man from the Dallas Convention and Visitors Bureau giving Super Bowl tickets to anyone who would approach him with the mystery phrase.

With a bit of luck fused with fate, Wright discovered the identity of the mystery man, stated the phrase and was handed the two tickets.

"I'm homeless and I thought someone was just messing with me," said Wright. "Then we saw the cameras. We had 90 cents in our pockets and we have won a package that people would have offered thousands of thousands of dollars for."

Along with winning tickets worth $25,000, Wright and Herme's airfare are also being paid for in addition to four nights in an exclusive hotel and $500 spending money.

"Today, this morning, I pray every day," says Wright. "I prayed for God's grace to help me find a job and He gave me Super Bowl tickets."
