Buzz-Free Christian Nightlife: Grand Opening of the Luxe Lounge
January 1, 2013By Tiffani Knowles

Just after the clock struck 12, NEWD launched its newest Christian lounge in conjunction with GCEN, TNI Radio, Life Zone TV and its Christian nightlife partner in S. Florida Soul Movement Crew. It was christened The Luxe Lounge -- " A Place Fit for a King's Kid."

Now a permanent fixture at the new Signet Hall and Event Center, 140-46 Queens Blvd, Queens, NY 11435, The Luxe Lounge aims to cater to young, upwardly, mobile Christians on a monthly basis to provide them with an alternative to the "get drunk, get wasted" scene that consumes New York City nightlife.

The Luxe Lounge opened its doors to a vibrant after-church crowd on New Year's, inviting guests to be photographed at the official red carpet area, dance on the immaculate hardwood floors and enjoy the "luxe-filled" atmosphere until the last person left at around 6 a.m.

Event-goers let out belly-busting laughs when Nigerian comedian Glory Weli turned church stereotypes and "holier than thou" behavior into clean moments of humor.

While the venue may have looked as posh as any Manhattan lounge, The Luxe Lounge set itself apart by serving exotic non-alcoholic beverages courtesy of The Beverage Bar.

When asked what the highlight of the event was, Facebook fan Karen Castellanos Angustia said,  "Love the mock-tails ....dirty lemonade."

Attendee Mayra Perez enjoyed the music courtesy of Daniel "DJ Dee-Knows" Sangobanwo as his selections ranged from urban gospel to reggae to hip hop to soca to Afro-beat to bachata and merengue.

"The conga line and then the electric slide at the end! Lol," Perez wrote on the Luxe Lounge Facebook page concerning her most memorable moment of the grand opening.

Attendees can expect to see all of the action at the event on the televised broadcast of The Luxe Lounge: Christian Nightlife in NYC on LifeZone Television at www.lifezonetv.com. Check the website for the broadcast schedule.

On the heels of its grand opening is a Valentine's Day party on February 14 from 7-11 p.m. at The Luxe Lounge.

Attendees, who must be 21 and over to ensure a mature audience, can expect to meet like-minded young adults. As always, attire is festive/dressy casual with the season dictating our color scheme of red, white and pink.

Admission to The Luxe Lounge Valentine's Day Party is $40 per couple, including a buffet dinner.

Visit www.theluxe.eventbrite.com to purchase tickets.

The Luxe Lounge is a lounge for the young, urban, upwardly mobile Christian professional.
