The son of megachurch pastor and Obama spiritual counselor Joel Hunter, was found dead Tuesday, Dec. 10 in an apparent suicide, said local police in Altamonte Springs, Fl.

Isaac Hunter was 36 and a father of three.

It was only last year that he had resigned from his own megachurch, The Summit Church in Orlando, after he admitted that he had engaged in an affair with a staff member.

According to the Orlando Sentinel. His wife of 13 years had filed a domestic-violence petition against him, describing him as “unstable, erratic and suicidal.”

Responding to a call from his brother who received a text message speaking of suicide, police found Isaac Hunter dead from a gunshot wound, said Officer Rob Pelton, Altamonte Springs Police Department spokesman. Police are investigating the death as a suicide, and the medical examiner will have a final cause of death in the next 10 days.

According to court documents, Hunter had written an undated suicide note to the leaders of Summit Church, saying of his friends and family: “'I fear I will love them better in my absence. As I have become what I never wished to be, a burden on those I love the most.”

“We found out today that Isaac took his life. We are obviously deeply, deeply devastated and saddened beyond words by this news,” said coordinator at Summit Church, Darling Murray, in an email a reported by the Orlando Sentinel.

Isaac Hunter filed for divorce from his wife on October 4.

Hunter is the middle child of Joel Hunter, senior pastor of The Northland Church in Longwood, Fl, who has been speaking to President Obama almost once a week since his 2008 presidential campaign, reports CNN.

He founded Summit Church in 2002 from a youth ministry at his father's church.

It became one of the fastest-growing in central Florida and now has a congregation of around 5,000.
