In less than two months, an exorbitant fee increase for some of the most common immigration procedures in America will go into effect in an attempt to solve a budget crisis with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services.

Here is a list of the immigration forms that will be affected as of October 2

 Form N-400, Application for  U.S. citizenship through naturalization will increase from $640 to $1,160 if filed online, or $ 1,170 in paper filing. Remember, you also must apply for biometrics, which is an additional $85. So, the final total will be $1,245. Percentage change: 83% (81%).

Current fee: $535. Final Fee: $560 ($550 for online filing). Percentage change: 5% (3%).

Form I-131, Application for Travel Document

For an individual age 16 or older:

Current fee: $135. Final Fee: $145. Percentage change: 7%.

For a child under age 16:

Current fee: $105. Final Fee: $115. Percentage change: 10%

Current fee: $575. Final Fee: $1,010. Percentage change: 76%.

▪ Form I-192, Application for Advance Permission to Enter as Nonimmigrant

Current fee: $585. Final Fee: $1,400. Percentage change: 139%.

▪ Form I-193, Application for Waiver of Passport and/or Visa

Current fee: $585. Final Fee: $2,790. Percentage change: 377%.

▪ Form I-212, Application for Permission to Reapply for Admission into the United States After Deportation or Removal

Current fee: $930. Final Fee: $1,050. Percentage change: 13%.

Current fee: $270. Final Fee: $1,305. Percentage change: 383%.

▪ Form N-336, Request for a Hearing on a Decision in Naturalization Proceedings

Current fee: $700. Final Fee: $1,735 ($1,725 for online filing). Percentage change: 148% (146%).

▪ Form N-470, Application to Preserve Residence for Naturalization Purposes

Current fee: $355. Final Fee: $1,585. Percentage change: 346%.

▪ Form G-1041, Genealogy Index Search Request

Current fee: $65. Final Fee: $170 ($160 for online filing). Percentage change: 162% (146%).

▪ Form G-1041A, Genealogy Records Request

Current fee: $65. Final Fee: $265 ($255 for online filing). Percentage change: 308% (292%).

 “This final rule also encourages online filing by providing a $10 reduction in the fee for applicants who submit forms online,” the USCIS told The Miami Herald.
