Just Thinking: The Dominant Position
April 29, 2015By V. Knowles

What is man that thou art so mindful of him and the son of man that thou visitest him? For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels and hast crowned him with glory and honor. Thou madest him  to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou has put all things under his feet.

Psalm 8: 4 -7.

What we have in the world today is an identity crisis. When men call themselves dogs and women call themselves b*^ches, we have a big misunderstanding in knowing who we are and why we were created.

Yet, everyday around us there are constant reminders from God of our untapped potential and capacity for greatness. Indeed, one of the saddest most tragic places on earth is the graveyard for it abounds with unfulfilled potential, purpose and promise. Until the sun sets on our day, we should continue to strive to be all we were meant to be.

If you continue to live beneath your destined purpose and position, the following words that are so casually thrown around nowadays will become your eternal truth.

How in the “hell” did I get into this mess? What in the “hell” did I do?

One day, if you do not change your attitude, you will find yourself confined permanently in Hades.

The following exchange between a reluctant sinner and his longsuffering Maker is atypical of many lives throughout history.

Man: Yes, I know what the Word says but I do not feel like it. Besides, the people, the devil and even my own flesh are always telling me how bad I am and that I will never amount to anything. Makes me think that I am really worthless and it’s just no use in trying. Doesn’t feel like anybody loves  or cares for me. My life kinda reminds me of that old BB King tune, “A’int nobody loves me but my mama and she may be jiving, too.”

God: There you go. That’s your problem and has always been your problem. You need to stop paying attention to how you feel and listening to other people. They have no idea what’s going on and for sure do not know how to fix it. Are you going to start paying attention to and obeying the word of God or continue to order your life by how you feel and what people say about you. I am the “only” Creator and besides me there is no Savior. Remember, back in the day in the Garden when everything was as smooth as silk. What did you do? Even though I had given you specific instructions not to do something.

Guess what? You listened to that woman who was deceived by that devil. It’s recorded here somewhere. Do you want me to read it, no, I think you remember clearly what it said. How did that work out for you?

Are you going to believe the God and his Word or will you believe how you feel and what the others are saying?

Whose report are you going to believe?

Man: You’re right, I messed up big time.

God: Yes you did, but you cannot afford to be a sucker all your life. Remember you have only one shot at this thing and I cannot help you after the grave. So you have to decide what you are going to do about it. It’s your time now. You’ve got to get your act together. Stop wasting time. I cannot do much more to convince you and set you on the right path. Even if you want my blood.  I’ve been there and done that!

Man: But I am afraid, what if I mess up again? Besides, I am too old to change now. You know what they say about old dogs.

God: Shut the hell up. (when God speaks it, is personal and present to you but it also reverberates throughout eternity because the devil and his angels will one day be bound forever in Hades never to trouble the universe again.)

Listen to yourself. You put those thoughts in your head. I certainly did not. Do you recall when I first formed your ancestor from the dust of the ground with my own two hands? What did I say? What did I whisper in your ear while you were yet in your mother’s womb? You are my greatest miracle, the greatest miracle in the universe. Therefore, there is nothing impossible for you and I to accomplish.Well, what do you say? I am waiting for you.

Man: I just don’t know. Remember you brought up Adam’s failure. I am my father’s son. The apple does not fall far from the tree. What if it’s déjà vu all over again?

God: Lift up your head. Look at me. Look at me. I see we have a communication problem. Try and understand the words that are coming out of my mouth. You can make it because I said so, I know so and I guarantee it. And no force in the universe can prevent it.

Man: I………( struggling to find the right words in rebuttal)

God: You can try and I am going to help you and remember I am the same God who helped Moses, Joshua, David, Elijah and Daniel and I have not lost any of my powers. I am the same yesterday, today and forever.  I do not slumber or need any sleep. I have got your back.

Man: Well, I guess I can give it one more shot. What have I got to lose? I am so far down in the dumps the only way out is up.

God: ‘Atta boy, now you are talking. Here take my hand. Let us go forth and change the world and reshape the lives of men.  If it takes a miracle, so what?! If it seems impossible, only means it will just take a little longer.   It can, will and must happen. I am the Creator of all flesh and there is nothing too hard for me.

You are my greatest miracle.

You can do all things because I will supply you the strength, courage and fortitude to do so.
