Big Burgers can damage your jaw
July 16, 2010 • By Sarah Richardson
Taiwanese dentists
warned that big burgers are a risk to the human jaw and that they should be done
away with last Friday.
Professor Hsu Ming-Lun of the School of Dentistry at National Yang-Ming University says that patients have developed sore jaws and have had difficulties opening their mouths after consuming giant burgers. The human mouth is only designed to gape over objects that are up to one and a half inches, but these problems can arise when fast-food fans tuck into burgers larger than three inches high.
Ming-Lun says that overextending the
jaw can hurt the joint between the jawbone and the temporal bone in front of
the ears.
