Robber Runs off with Rubbish
August 21, 2010By Sarah Richardson

A thief in North East Queensland, Australia has left not so quite empty-handed thanks to a quick-thinking shop worker.

Police say the female worker handed the would-be thief bags of trash after she was threatened during attempted robbery.

The incident occurred at the rear of the Abbott S. store in suburban Townsville around 8:30 p.m. (AEST) last week, when the man approached her and demanded money.

The shop worker handed the thief the bags of rubbish she was about to dispose of and the man ran away.

Police are still investigating the event.
